Sculptural Ceramic Vases & Vessels
Sculptural ceramic vases, hand-built from stoneware in my Bay Area studio. Some hold flowers; all hold a room — textured, organic forms drawn from coral, shell, and stone, and from my ongoing exploration of the feminine form. One of a kind, signed, and ready to ship within days.
I finished this one in a crawl glaze and tore the rim open by hand — two decisions that let a single colour carry texture as well.
Lagoon brings color into a room at a scale most colour pieces can't reach. It has the height to be seen from the doorway and a surface that rewards standing right next to it, which is a rare combination: from across the room, a strong dusty blue holding a surface on its own; up close, a broken, beaded skin that a smooth even glaze could never give.
Give it a surface where you want the eye to land — a console, a mantle, the end of a long table, a shelf at eye level. It doesn't need company. The blue is soft rather than bright, so it reads correctly in a spare, tonal interior and in a room already full of color and pattern alike. Style it empty or with dried branches and tall stems. For a private collection or an interior design project that needs color with some weight behind it.
Hand-built from coils and signed at the bottom.
Materials: Beige stoneware clay. Blue crawl glaze over the exterior. Glazed interior.
Dimensions:
Height: 14"
Width (in the widest point): 5”
Care: Hand wash only.
Each piece is hand-built in my San Francisco Bay Area studio, so no two are exactly alike. Finishes may appear slightly different in person due to natural lighting and screen variations. Processing time 2–3 business days.

Every cell in this surface was pressed by hand, one at a time — the technique the Coral pieces are known for, and the reason this vase can't be reproduced by a factory.
Because each cell holds its own shadow, the surface shifts as the light moves and as you move around it: from across a room it reads as depth, and up close it reads as hours of making. Cream over sand clay keeps it tonal, so it brings that depth without introducing a color to manage — which makes it one of the easier pieces to place, at home in a spare interior and in a saturated, layered one alike.
It is flattened rather than round, so it sits close to a wall and suits a shallow shelf, a mantle, or a console as readily as an open surface. It stands alone, and it builds into a run with the other Coral pieces for a collector or a larger project.
Hand-built from coils and signed at the bottom.
Materials: Beige high-fire stoneware clay. Cream glaze over a honeycomb-textured, coral-like exterior, with the clay body left exposed in the hollows. Glazed interior.

A soft blue crawl glaze over warm clay — chosen because it breaks as it fires, so one small vase carries colour and texture at once.
Azure is a small vase, and it does what small vases do best: it adds a note of color and a note of texture to a surface at once, without asking for a surface of its own. Between books, on a shelf, on a bedside table, on a kitchen counter — it joins what's already there and makes it look more considered.
Cool blue over warm clay means it reads correctly in a grey-toned interior and a warm one, in a spare scheme and a layered one, which makes it one of the easier pieces to place. Up close, the glaze is the pleasure of it: a crawl glaze is made to pull apart as it fires, gathering into beads in some places and thinning enough to let the clay through in others. Style it empty or with a dried stem or two.
Hand-built from coils and signed at the bottom.
Materials: Ochre-brown stoneware clay. Soft blue crawl glaze over the exterior, breaking to expose the clay body.
Dimensions:
Height: 4"
Width: 3.5”
Care: Dust with a soft cloth; hand wash only. This is a decorative vase and does not hold water.

A small vase that exists for one reason: colour, and colour made by hand.
Poppy goes where a larger piece can't — between books, on an entry table, a bar cart, a windowsill, a kitchen shelf — and it changes the character of a surface without asking for anything around it to be rearranged. That is its whole job, and it does it well.
What it gives you that a shop-bought coloured vase doesn't is the hand and the glaze: a rim torn open by hand rather than trimmed, and a crawl glaze chosen because it breaks and gathers as it fires, so the red carries movement instead of sitting flat. It's warm and earthy rather than sharp, which lets it hold its own against wood, brass, leather, stone, and paint, in a spare interior and a layered one alike. Style it empty or with a dried stem or two — it's the easiest way into a piece of handmade work.

A handmade sculptural ceramic vase that finds more life in imperfection than in symmetry. Hand-built from warm beige high-fire stoneware, this asymmetric vase leans gently off its axis — quiet, grounded, and unmistakably shaped by hand.
There's a stillness to it that settles a room. The sand-textured surface holds the light softly, and the piece finds its balance in imbalance — an organic ceramic art object that feels whole precisely because it isn't perfect. It works beautifully as a standalone piece on a console or shelf, or as part of a curated grouping of ceramic vessels in a considered interior.
Materials: Beige high-fire stoneware clay. Bronze glazed interior. Tactile, sand-textured unglazed exterior.

A hand-built ceramic vase carved all over with flowing, swirling relief — soft looping curves that move across the surface like wind over sand — in pale matte stoneware.
The whole body is worked by hand into deep, rhythmic swirls and leaf-like hollows that catch light and shadow as they turn, giving a still object the feeling of constant motion. Left unglazed, the sandy surface keeps everything quiet and tactile.

I imagine this hand-built ceramic vessel as a shell — a quiet treasure found at the bottom of the ocean. Its form feels protective and full, shaped slowly by pressure, water, and time. The porous stoneware surface carries traces of erosion and softness, like stone worn by the sea.
This sculptural ceramic vessel holds a sense of stillness and depth, inviting touch and close observation. Its rounded, organic form makes it a natural fit for collectors of contemporary ceramic art and interior designers sourcing objects that carry genuine material presence — on a console, a shelf, an entryway, or a mantle.

I wanted to make something that felt like it had been sitting at the bottom of the ocean for a few centuries. It started with those heavy, scalloped ridges, and I kept the finish dark and gritty to let the texture do the talking. The white speckles along the edges read like salt, or barnacles — traces of another world entirely.
This hand-built sculptural ceramic vessel has real physical weight and a rough, stone-like surface. It is more sculpture than standard vase — a ceramic art object for collectors drawn to raw materiality and the unapologetic presence of dark stoneware. It works powerfully in a contemporary interior alongside natural materials — on a console, a plinth, a shelf, or an entryway.

A hand-sculpted ceramic vase whose honeycomb surface evokes coral reefs — form born from pressure and time, drawing its language from the ocean floor.
The body is large and full, its entire exterior worked into a dense, cellular coral texture that catches light and shadow across every ridge and hollow. In deep brown stoneware the surface reads almost lithified, like something lifted from the seabed and left to harden.
The interior is glazed and smooth — a quiet contrast to the rugged outer skin.
This is a statement piece. It carries a commanding presence and was made to anchor a room — on a plinth, a console, or the floor of a carefully considered interior.

Calla was a true discovery for me. Its form speaks about harmony and balance, inner strength and quiet beauty. I couldn't stop thinking about this flower until I created my own Calla from clay.
This hand-built ceramic vase follows the natural movement of the calla lily — soft, unfolding, slightly twisted, as if growing from within. The textured stoneware surface invites touch, while the darker glazed interior adds depth and calm contrast.

This hand-built ceramic vase is a variation on the Calla form — the same soft, unfolding movement, now expressed in warm brown stoneware that shifts the feeling from quiet to grounded and earthy.
Where the beige Calla speaks of lightness, this one carries more weight — the tone deepens the texture, gives the surface more presence, and makes the piece feel closer to the earth it came from. A sculptural ceramic vessel that holds its own in a room without demanding attention.
A considered choice for collectors drawn to organic ceramic forms, or for interior designers sourcing art objects that anchor a space with warmth and materiality.

This hand-built sculptural ceramic vase embodies the spirit of a woman whose beauty shines not despite her imperfections, but because of them. Its flowing, organic form radiates elegance, while the crack running through the clay is a reminder of humanity, resilience, and a life fully lived.

This piece grew from the idea of a flower in motion — not a literal form, but a feeling. Unfolding, reaching, slightly unbalanced, as if caught mid-bloom.
This hand-built ceramic vase is about fragility and strength existing together. A tall sculptural object that feels alive in a space, inviting touch, light, and close attention. Its organic asymmetry makes it impossible to replicate — and impossible to ignore. A natural choice for collectors of contemporary ceramic art, or for interior designers looking for ceramic vessels with genuine sculptural presence.

This hand-built ceramic vase feels like it carries the memory of fire. The dark lines running down its brown stoneware surface look almost like streams of lava that cooled in place, leaving permanent traces in the clay. Its form is strong and grounding, yet also deeply fluid — as if it could have been shaped by nature itself rather than by hands.
Raw, simple, and full of quiet power. A sculptural ceramic vessel with a substantial presence — wide, low, and commanding. Works well in contemporary interiors alongside stone, wood, and other natural materials. A considered choice for collectors of organic ceramic art or interior designers sourcing statement objects for residential spaces.

This hand-built ceramic vase takes the shape of a shell — soft vertical ridges flowing like waves across its surface, as if formed by water and preserved in stone over time. The deep black stoneware gives it a grounding, commanding presence, while the organic form remains light and timeless. Minimal and expressive in equal measure, it holds the quiet elegance of the natural world in ceramic form.
This sculptural ceramic vessel stands beautifully on its own — its narrow, elongated silhouette and dark tactile surface making it a considered choice for collectors of contemporary ceramic art or interior designers sourcing organic art objects for residential spaces.
Please note: this piece has a small crack at the lower part (visible in photos) that is permanent and will not change over time. Cracks and small imperfections may naturally occur during the ceramic process, which unfolds over several months. This handcrafted piece carries the artist's touch and the marks of its making — traces of clay and fire in harmony, captured in its final form.

A smooth river stone, shaped over centuries by flowing water — organic, rounded, and calming in its simplicity. It could have been found on a black sand beach after a volcanic eruption. The narrow opening feels like a hidden mouth; the small glossy drips on one side read like raindrops caught in the clay.
This hand-built ceramic vessel sits low and wide, with a quiet authority. In a space, it functions as a grounding sculptural object — a ceramic art piece that rewards slow looking and rewards placement on a low shelf, coffee table, or plinth.

This hand-built ceramic vessel draws its language from volcanic rock — the moment when drifting lava solidifies into organic, irreproducible patterns. The surface feels raw and elemental, like the earth itself: textured, powerful, and alive.
Each curve and ridge in this dark stoneware vessel tells a story of transformation frozen in time. A sculptural ceramic art object for collectors drawn to geological forms and the drama of dark clay, or for interior designers sourcing pieces with strong material presence for contemporary residential or hospitality spaces.

Woman 2 is a sculptural tribute to the feminine form — her curves flowing in two soft spheres, like a body in quiet motion. The wave-cut opening reveals a dark glazed interior, a quiet inner world held within. There is a softness to her shape, but also strength: she stands grounded, full, and completely herself. Part of an ongoing exploration of womanhood through clay, this vase honors the body not as an ideal, but as something living, sensual, and whole.

This vase carries the spirit of coral pulled from a tide pool — its fan-like shell rises in soft scallops above a small pedestal foot, every surface dimpled by hand. The deep brown clay holds warmth and quiet earthiness, while the inside is glazed dark like the hollow of a shell. There is something both delicate and primal about it — a piece that feels grown rather than made.
Brown stoneware mid-fire clay. Glazed at the inside. The vase has textured and tactile surface.

Interior designers source these pieces for residential and hospitality projects where a room needs one object with real material weight — the raw stoneware reads as texture across a room in a way glazed ceramics don't. Private collectors tend to come for the figurative forms: the She series, the shells, the coral vessels.
Every vase is one of a kind and signed at the bottom. My work was shown at the 2026 San Francisco Decorator Showcase and has been featured in Architectural Digest, The Wall Street Journal, LUXE Interiors + Design, and California Home+Design.
If you're a designer working on a project, I offer trade pricing, holds for client presentations, and high-resolution imagery on request — see For Interior Designers or email me. For a piece made to your space and palette, visit Commissions. Pieces ship nationally from the San Francisco Bay Area; local pickup is available in San Jose.
Dune is the object a surface gets arranged around. On its own it holds a console or a shelf; among other things it makes everything beside it look more considered. The unglazed surface is the reason to own it — matte, sand-textured, worked by hand, changing through the day as the light moves across it. It reads as material rather than product, which is the difference between original ceramic art and a decorative object.
It takes a single stem or a dried branch, and it is complete empty. Because the colour comes from the clay and not from a glaze, it belongs as easily in a spare, modern interior as in a warm, layered one, and it outlasts a change of palette. For a private collection or an interior design project where the piece is expected to earn its place.
