She
I once created a vase called “She.” When I opened the kiln, I saw that one side was cracked while the other remained untouched. In that moment, I realized how much it resembled me—and so many other women.
So much of our lives is spent trying to appear perfect, yet true perfection is never meant to be reached. We show the side of ourselves that feels polished and presentable, while quietly carrying another side—marked with cracks, wrinkles, scars, and traces of living. This side holds our stories, our individuality, and the experiences that have shaped us. Far from being flaws, these imperfections are the heart of who we are, reflecting our resilience, growth, and the quiet beauty of a life fully lived.
This realization became the heart of my series “Beautifully Imperfect.” It honors women’s natural beauty in its truest form—not as an unattainable ideal, but as something real, shaped by life itself. Every wrinkle, scar, or imperfection tells a story of resilience and authenticity, making each of us whole and inspiring in our own unique way.
As an artist, I translate this truth into ceramic objects. Elegant yet distinctive, they carry their cracks openly, as a mark of pride. These details don’t take away from their beauty; they deepen it, making every piece authentic, natural, and one of a kind—just like us.
This piece is handcrafted using coils and signed at the bottom. It may carry marks from the making process, reflecting the piece’s handmade character.
Please note: The cracks are permanent and will remain exactly as they are—they will not expand or change over time. Each vase is one of a kind and cannot be replicated, making it truly unique.
Black stoneware mid-fire clay. Glazed at the inside. The vase has textured and tactile surface.
Dimensions:
Height: 12.5”
Diameter: 7”
Please hand wash only
Please note: every effort is made to represent each piece accurately, though finishes may appear slightly different in person due to natural lighting and screen variations.
Processing time for the item to be shipped is 2-3 business days.
Please note that if you are ordering from outside the US, your parcel may be subject to customs fees according to your country’s regulations.
